Who’s the better kisser? John McCain, hands down. Obama has eaten “dog meat” — Americans love dogs, don’t we?

Yes, we do.  We love dogs and other pets.  I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to look at another picture of him without remembering what I just read in Newsweek…

Reuters has a little trifle up this morning on who makes the better kisser

Newsweek has been unpacking how Obama found his faith on the streets of Chicago.  Like the New Yorker article yesterday, this provides more needed back story on his religion and character development.  From the piece linked above, on page two:

“…During his years in Indonesia, Obama went first to a Catholic school—and then to a public elementary school with a weekly class of religious education that reflected the dominant Muslim culture. He was raised, in part, by his stepfather, a man named Lolo, who “like many Indonesians … followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths,” Obama wrote in “Dreams From My Father.” “He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate.” Lolo introduced young Obama to the taste of dog meat, snake meat and roasted grasshopper. In Indonesia, Obama has said, he saw women with and without head coverings and Muslims living comfortably next to Christians. He has said that his life among Muslims in Indonesia showed him that “Islam can be compatible with the modern world…”

Dogs play a very large part in terms of American iconography and our national psyche.  Just a few examples of some of America’s favorites…like say…”Old Yeller,”  “Rin Tin Tin,”  “Lassie,” “Petey, from The Little Rascals,”  “White Fang,”  “Asta,” not to mention, “Nipper.”  Or how about “Sounder.

Americans?  We love our dogs.  In fact, for a lot of us our love for our dogs has almost religious overtones.

I guess there must be some truth to the old adage “You are what you eat.”

There is nothing wrong with the New Yorker’s cover.  This image is how America perceives who the Obama’s are, given what has been released so far.  It certainly has nothing to do with the Presidential “Camelot” of the 1960’s…

It’s probably time to start unpacking the reason Reverend Wright was dropped like a rather hot potato, too.

Monkey brains are considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, too.

This was a really cute story about the menagerie of pets chez McCain…from the Times Online…

Most American households love their pets.  To eat a pet?  Unthinkable, and, better to get a great big kiss from your dog, than from someone who ate dog.
