Senex, Puer, ecosphere and a handy hip pocket guide to Jung’s typology as regards elections in 2008! Plus a bit on semantics and quantum theory…
But first a song! For my pals who come by…boy do I ever want a horse and some painted desert land and then I can invite all my pals who have been blogging their hearts out through this whole election to a big party, and also they could get some rest. Do I ever know some fab Americans. I do. Here’s that song!
Okay, here is the deal viewed through a Jungian lens. What we have going on here is a battle between two Senexes and a puer. Senex conciousness is WISDOM, born of age! That means boy have I experienced a lot of life, and ummm… I know MORE than you! Hence this ad, that the McCain camp has put out! You are looking at what is called “puella conciousness” in these young girls as they wax rhapsodic over a puer!
It’s a transference, in a sense…
He’s on the money with these ads. Here is the troubling part. He is a puer. If he were a Senex like Hillary Clinton or John McCain he’d be able to make a concrete sentence on his own. A puer is dreamy and floaty because they are a feeling type. So here is your handy guide on what this means. You’ve probably heard of a Meyers Briggs test, and possibly have even taken one. They are being used now by some companies to determine new “hires.”
Well that is a pretty corrupt use of a test, no? UNETHICAL! Especially when it’s being done by people who aren’t trained psychotherapists…
So, Jung’s typology in a nutshell is this. There are four basic personalities — as types!
THINKING — FEELING — SENSATE — INTUITIVE
Everyone has one of these as a main function, okay? Then we have INTROVERSION and EXTROVERSION!
And we have the concept of the “INFERIOR FUNCTION”
It’s like this:
THINKING — FEELING — SENSATE — INTUITIVE ——-”SUPERIOR FUNCTION”
FEELING — THINKING — INTUITIVE –SENSATE——– “INFERIOR FUNCTION”
Everybody has a bit of everything in them — but most people fall someplace into these four, and their opposites! So you know these people! But I going to give you some vignettes…
A THINKER does just that. These are “brainy types” — math, science, law and so forth. An introverted thinker is a scientist in a lab toiling for years — a geeky kind of person. But Brilliant!
An extroverted thinker might look like a laywer who likes to “perform” — onstage? This could also look like a politician who can just speak off the cuff! In a courtroom, or at a rally?
A FEELER is EMOTIONAL as the top function. They perceive the world by how it “feels” to them!
An introverted feeler is a “deep” feeler! Feelers are found in the caretaking professions a lot. An extroverted feeler is always talking about how they FEEL about things. They care how people feel! This type never forgets to have the birthday cards, bake the cake for a party, plan the potlucks — you know the type! They “emote” — all the time, and everyone knows how they feel!
A SENSATE is all about the “body” and how things “feel” but in a bodily way. They like great food, pleasure, massages, things that feel good to the body — using the five senses! An extroverted Sensate is the party hardy type — rock and roller type. They “sense” their way through the world. They can “smell” out things? They are pretty grounded people and make up most of HUMANITY as we know it. An introverted Sensate might be a poet? Or a writer or an artist? They can show you how a thing “sounds” by making a piece of music that you will perceive in a sense way!
AN INTUITIVE type — these people have brilliant minds, as well as being able to “forsee things” — they are also a VERY small part of the general population in this world. These people are writers, artists, therapists and can even be clairvoyants — they could also be healers like doctors — who are able to “intuit” what might be wrong? Their minds are VERY FERTILE. They process the world based upon how they have intuited it since birth? They tend to pick up on “signs” — that they “see.” So an introverted intuitive could be a reclusive monk? They might have a hard time going to a place where there were a lot of people? It would be information OVERLOAD in a way. They perceive via the environment!
Okay. So look at this again:
THINKING — FEELING — SENSATE — INTUITIVE ——-”SUPERIOR FUNCTION”
FEELING — THINKING — INTUITIVE –SENSATE——– “INFERIOR FUNCTION”
Thinker’s “feeling function” is the inferior function. It’s like they are heartless?
Feeler’s aren’t good at “thinking.” They don’t appear to be smart and being smart isn’t their forte to begin with.
Sensates have almost no INTUITIVE SKILLS! NONE! They would just love to swim in the water and be too busy to see the shark coming because they were all into the “feeling” of how good the water felt!
Intuitives have a problem being “grounded” —- these are high strung people! They fuction on nerve, perception, snap decisions and they can be up in their heads a lot! VERY HIGH INTELLECT, but not so good at “street smarts.” This is kind of like how Einstein used to walk when he was thinking and they had to paint his front door red so he could figure out which house to go home to? RD, if you see this — this is your “hypergraphia!” and mine…
Okay so everyone has all of this — but, a PUER is a FEELER/SENSATE! can you see a prob? Look at McCain’s ad again and you are seeing feeler/sensates in the girls.
SENEX is functioning from a thinking place, and on all four cylinders. (Read John and Hillary)——–!
As we get older we manage to learn about our inferior functions?
Now, what would a THINKING SENSATE look like?
Mix it up and you have the map! But, what has target-marketed pharma been doing for the last 20 years?
Yikes! We’ll get there next time, but, feelers would find texting parfait! They can’t think!
Hence, “it’s hot!” as in a “logo.” It “feels good.”
PUMAdepth comin’ atcha! Damn straight and functioning on all four! I have the degrees to prove it!
HAVE FUN & I love you guys! & this world! Next up part two avec quantum kuan yin interventions!
xxoo!
