One thing about Hillary Clinton, she isn’t going to divide the party. We didn’t have all this racial tension until Obama came along and split the Democratic Party up into segments that he could target-market to. Average voters want a President we can depend on. To SOLVE things.
We’ve had years of war, and everyday the world is looking worse and worse. One look into the web for news and there are disasters everywhere. If it isn’t from global warming, or earthquakes, or terrorism, or bankruptcy, or foreclosures, or layoffs, or pollution, or outsourcing? All of a sudden there are global food shortages, like rice. People are worried about the price of gas, and oil, and all the basic things that make up a person’s day. The press seems to thrive on the bad news, except, every story is a “bleeding” lede.
Women, as caregivers, are trying to deal with their parent’s aging while tending to their own children and holding down jobs as well. This is the “middle” of America. It looks different state by state and city by city. The “fattening” of America has to do with a gross depression the country has been in, that has escalated in the last eight years. The poor are increasing here, the homeless people die on the streets. Funding for the sort of social programs we had in the 70’s has been cut to ribbons. The arts and music are not being taught because there isn’t the money. How did it get to be like this, here?
We have watched the battle of religions all over the world, and the rise of religious extremism. We have seen our country split into red and blue areas. Every group has issues of its own.
I think we need a period of CALM in the country. I think Hillary Clinton would provide a Presidency where America can begin to catch its breath, a little. She’s practical. She isn’t in it to be ultra glamorous. She’s there to get things done. Is this why the press has given her such a bad rap?
Bud White has a great post up that is worth the read today. He’s going to give you a profile of the voter who won’t go for Obama in the Fall. There are millions like her. In every state in the union. Here is who she is:
“…My friend has been a loyal Democrat for over 30 years. She has lived in Denver and Boulder, and has spent her life committed to progressive causes and equality. I am stunned when she tells me she can’t support Obama. This is a voice the super delegates need to hear, I think. I ask her to give me a brief biography. Here’s how she describes herself:
49 year old white female…Lived in Colorado for 21 years. In a committed relationship for nine years. Veteran of the US Army. Undergraduate degree in Sociology. Police officer for 13 years. Currently employed as a criminal investigator. Prior to that, worked as a volunteer, counselor, management in domestic violence shelters. Have also previously worked in the education field at the collegiate level for three different colleges/universities. I consider myself a Democrat and have primarily voted for Democratic candidates since I began voting at the age of 18…Very patriotic, believe it is my right and responsibility to vote…”
Recognize her among your friends? You’ll want to read Bud, and see why she will vote the way she does. With those jobs and that kind of working record, I see a feminist. The kind of feminist who is incredibly insulted by all the “sweetie talk.” Look at where she worked. Domestic violence. Feminists often help other women get out of bad situations. The entire Second Wave was geared to do that. We’re like Hillary Clinton. Just younger!
Then you might want to check out this editorial from the IndyStar.com.
The writer is voicing the concerns of the biggest voting block of women you can imagine. We have been insulted by the leaders of the DNC. We may leave the Party. And this is why the Party should care. That editorial is going to unpack the whole thing, regarding the biggest insulter, and what many of us can’t stomach. The Press doesn’t realize who we are, because we work quietly behind the scenes. We are the group of women who went through abortions, multiple relationships, multiple marriages, much education, many different careers.
This demographic has raised children alone, is taking care of their elderly parents, worries about this country and what it is going to look like in the future. Many have seen their jobs outsourced, gone through layoffs, had to reinvent themselves over and over. Some of this group are lesbian too. Their male counterparts might be gay. This group of people has seen it all. The have battled discrimination on the job, faced sexism, racism, and had to fetch coffee most likely for bosses once or twice. This group can’t be fooled. This group comes in all races, too. This group wants Hillary, not Obama. They aren’t going to sway in the Fall. They are going to pick McCain, or not vote.
Why?
They don’t like Obama’s insults. They don’t like his pastor or the stringent racism they saw. They don’t like Obama’s arrogance. They haven’t seen substance out of him. It would be the same for any candidate because SUBSTANCE is what America wants in a President right now. STRONG LEADERSHIP, and the skills that go with that. Hillary Clinton doesn’t need the Hollywood sign to blow her name up in lights. Just read that editorial above, and you’ll see what we think. There is NO HUMILITY here. The last eight years we have seen no HUMILITY. WE DO NO WANT THAT AGAIN IN OUR NEXT PRESIDENT.
You can read that bit about the Hollywood sign here, from the NY Post:
“…Last July, James Powderly, Brooklyn-based co-founder of Graffiti Research Labs, which has developed projection-based laser graffiti employed by anarchists and other malcontents, got a call from a young Obama supporter named Yosi Sargent.
“He asked if we would write ‘OBAMA’ on the Hollywood sign with our laser tag,” Powderly said. “I didn’t see them as anything more than just a corporation. It’s an ad. We said, ‘No thanks.’ But they were right to look in our direction…”
You know, the Hollywood sign isn’t the place for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. It’s like this campaign is all about “stardom” and selling things. That’s why he isn’t taken seriously. By the great big MIDDLE. In fact, he is like a joke to many of us, right now.
People are laughing or they are gnashing their teeth. On the Women’s Rights front, if McCain gets in, those are going to go? Not to mention what the Religious Right thinks of gays and lesbians. Look at Obama’s own pastor. He’s a homophobe, isn’t he?
That is why Hillary is the BEST CHOICE for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
Superdelgates? Do you want to lose the Party? Because you will.
Your basic Democrat is very tolerant. They are not racist, they are not trying to intrude on other’s rights. Heterosexual Dems, like myself, have watched the struggle, post Civil Rights for all of these things. The way I see it, it’s going to be Hillary Clinton or John McCain, come Fall. More will go to Hillary, if that chance is there. Think about that, and just put your ideas of a woman not being capable enough aside. She can. And, she can preserve what we have all known for the last 30 years. Do you want some calm in our country, and some sanity? Then I’d make sure you put Hillary at the helm. It’s obvious Obama has no clue about how to conduct himself, and he doesn’t have plans. We see the gloss, but not the SUBSTANCE.
Please, CHOOSE the person with the plans and know how. Please don’t destroy what the women’s movement worked for by picking McCain unless you really have to. It’ll be years before you get those rights back, once they change. SEND HILLARY CLINTON BACK TO THE WHITE HOUSE!
Here’s the story from the NYT. She will fight on, and all of us know why.
Oh, and, McCain? He’s ethical at least about his lobbyists. I’ve been reading about that. The other thing we’re all thinking about? The ETHICS of our next President. And believe me, we know who is the least ethical of the three. Expect that to be exploited, heavily, all the way into Fall.
