We have talked a lot about the target marketing and use of propaganda by Axelrod but this takes the cake.  His “just words” — you decide.  Is it ethical to register words and incorporate the American Presidency?  No.

The Presidency in our country is a sacred thing.

Read all about it at No Quarter, in New Hampster’s piece.

“Obama is a registered trademark and Hope and Change are Trademarks of Obama for President Incorporated.”

After watching the fantastic PBS documentary on FDR, one of our greatest Democrats and Presidents ever, and contrasting it with this?  This is the most revolting, disgusting, lowly, cheap shot I have ever seen in my life.  The FEC, and President Bush should have something to say about all of this to our country.  The American Presidency is the highest office in the land.  It is not a set of “trademarked” words, nor is it for sale.

President, Incorporated?  You should be ashamed of tarnishing the legacy of FDR and every American President who has ever held office.  Were you planning to trademark his Fireside Chats, too?  Were you planning to sell them, as you are selling your speech on Race?

Here are all of our American Presidents.  Not one of them trademarked themselves, or the Office of the Presidency.

The Brand Called Obama®

I can’t believe I spent 5 minutes reading that link and watching the video. An so what about the copyright? Ryan Seacrest® of American Idol just copyrighted his name too, It’s a legal thing mostly. It reduced boneheads from trying to impersonate you or make $ off your notoriety. Big deal. When are the Clintonites going to accept the fact that it’s Obama or a war with Iran? Or is the feminist thing just to keep the war going so more men die? You’re doing a great job for the GOP, considering they can’t even tie their shoes right now.
Really Bonnaire, you never answered the question I asked some time ago, which was (basically) how do you think Hillary is any different? You honestly believe that the Clintons aren’t full of shit like every other politician? You want me to say it? Fine, Obama’s full of shit too. There. But you’re all wrapped up in this hate brigade, grasping at straws. The arguments are getting weaker by the week I must say, and you never answered the OTHER question I posed, namely, Will you vote for McCain (or stay home — same thing) over Obama, just in spite? Because if that’s the case, then you should just start beating the war drum (some would argue you already are) and join the GOP.

    ps; how are you? :)

GW Bush not only tarnished but he coated everything he touched with fecal material.

    Geez, antennawilde…

I think Hillary will end the war and help the poor here. I see the US on verge of of crash like 1929 — also — a “depression” not unlike the 30’s ala Dorothea Lange WPA photoshoot. Why so many homeless here? We need to change the whole system.

I’d vote McCain. Strictly because he is a Vietnam Vet. My whole family were WASPY Republicans. I’m the first Dem, and grew up same basic era as you I think, post civil rights.

One year I went green and Gore lost. I will never waste a vote again, or not vote. Believe me, if we had a proper green party I’m with them…

I see O as a fascist in the making for the braindead set on meds. Unlike you, many of his supporters can’t even argue logically — I’m serious.

I never wanted any Republicans before McCain. I see him as viable because he will want to end the war, too. he knows what those kids are going through. We’ve had eight years of their politics.

Obama though has very dubious associations and very crooked ties, like Rezko. He and I are almost the same age.

You should check out what he actually said about Pakistan. He’s not anti-war, antennawilde.

As for you, gasdocpol — I feel sorry for Bush. On his way out the door, he leaves hated by many like yourself. I’ve come to the belief that any President faces the hardest job in the world, especially now, that there are no more journalists or newspapers to get the real stories out.

I understand Bush better when I frame him as a Texan. I’ve been watching FDR on PBS. FDR is my kind of President.

O? Nothing but a target marketed logo. American dumbdown at its finest. In my opinion, he who can raise the most funds by target marketing doesn’t the best President make.

GW Bush was not even remotely qualified to be president. He was a drifter with a drinking problem until he was 40.

The members of the Project For a New American Century (PNAC) had their agenda prepared and published before they propped up an uninformed, inexperienced, failed businessman named George W. Bush as their poster candidate.

He had great appeal among the good ole boys and the bible thumpers who were not very likely to vote for the scowling man behind the curtain, Dick Cheney.

George W. Bush had not been sitting around for the previous 10 years thinking about foreign policy. Rather, he was being coached on foreign policy by handlers who had to teach him that Africa was a continent and not a country.

  5. vbonnaire Says:

He and O? The puppetry behind the scenes?

It seems the same to me, gasdocpol…I think he wanted to avenge his father, somehow. Now he has, and yikes. The world hates us.

We can’t take another puppet like that, can we?

One thing about Hillary and McCain — I don’t think they are puppets and they have YEARS of experience in Washington with all the people who can end the war. All either of them would need is a good team behind them. I had hoped Edwards would come out for Hillary. He made a mistake, in my opinion. At any rate, I can’t stand to see our country go down the tubes, financially like it is.

Repubs never have a problem spending money — but who is going to “own” us? One of the nations we have helped? That’s a scary thought, no?

We can’t afford this war, Hillary knows that.

I feel sorry for whoever will be the President. They will have so much to clean up. It boggles the mind, gasdocpol.
