What a bunch of…BS.
Are we living in a Democracy or a Totalitarian state? I’m not sure.
First — there is only one person investigating the FEC (Federal Elections Commission) shutdown and that is Fred Wertheimer over at Democracy21.org. Here is his latest post, and thank heavens!
“…Federal Candidates and National Parties Have
Raised Total of $1.6 Billion for 2008 Election,
Compared with $77 Million Raised by Federally-Focused 527 Groups
A press release issued last week by the Campaign Finance Institute (CFI) reported that federally-focused 527 groups had raised $77 million for the 2008 election, as of January 31, 2008.
In order to provide an overall perspective on the amount raised by the 527 groups, it is important also to look at the amounts raised by federal candidates and the national political parties for the 2008 election.
The overall total raised by federal candidates and the national parties for the 2008 election for a similar period is $1,644,188,000 as compared with the $77,000,000 raised by 527 groups – an amount which represented less than 5 % of the total raised by federal candidates and the national parties.
The $1.6 billion total raised by candidates and parties for the 2008 election includes the following amounts, according to information from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the Center for Responsive Politics (CRP):
- Presidential candidates raised $792,088,000 and congressional candidates raised $507,300,000; overall, all federal candidates raised a total of $1,299,388,000;
- Democratic national party committees raised $177,700,000 and Republican national party committees raised $167,100,000; overall the national parties raised a total of $344,800,000.
”Much of the money spent by federally-focused 527 groups in the 2004 election was found to have been spent illegally,” according to Democracy 21 President Fred Wertheimer.
”The FEC found, for example, that just four of the largest 527 groups spent $200 million illegally to influence the 2004 presidential election,” Wertheimer stated.
”This included two pro-Democratic groups, ACT and The Media Fund, and two pro-Republican groups, Progress for America Voter Fund and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth,” Wertheimer said…”
Well, of course it is necessary to check out who ACT and the Media Fund are right? Who are they?
Well, I found the Media Fund right away. Right here over at Discovertheneworks.org
“…Describing itself as “the largest media buying organization supporting a progressive message,” The Media Fund (TMF) conceptualizes, produces, and places political ads on television, radio, print, and the Internet. It was very active prior to the 2004 U.S. presidential election; since then, it has been much less active.
TMF was founded by Harold Ickes, a Democrat lobbyist and strategist who is widely recognized as the chief organizer of the Shadow Party. After passage of the McCain-Feingold Act of March 27, 2002, Ickes helped put George Soros together with such activists as Andrew Stern, Ellen R. Malcolm, Steve Rosenthal, Gina Glantz, Cecile Richards and others who were seeking ways to circumvent McCain-Feingold’s soft-money ban. While Malcolm, Glantz and Rosenthal were cobbling together the coalition of labor unions, pro-abortion activists and environmentalists that would later emerge as America Coming Together (ACT), Ickes sought to organize what he informally called a “media fund” — or sometimes “the president’s media fund” — a Section 527 stealth PAC that would raise money for campaign advertising. Ickes finally decided to simply call it The Media Fund, launching it in early 2003.
The Media Fund subsequently received more than $28.1 million in donations, much of it from leftist government labor unions such as SEIU and AFSCME. TMF also received many millions of dollars whose ultimate source is untraceable, since the money was first laundered through Joint Victory Campaign 2004 (JVC 2004). George Soros gave millions of dollars to JVC 2004, as did close Soros associates Peter B. Lewis and Stephen Bing…”
But wait…haven’t we seen that name George Soros before linked to Obama? What’s the REAL connection these two have? And what is “The Shadow Party” — I mean have you as a democrat ever heard of a shadow side to our party? It’s news to me. I thought we had three candidates this time around. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama. Didn’t you? Well, I went ahead and clicked through over to the fabulous Business Week to find out what the hell the Shadow Party was. Shadow Party huh? Sounds pretty shady/shadowy to me. You’ll just have to read that for more backstory. You won’t believe it! Here is a snippet:
“…PAID FOOT SOLDIERS. To make that happen, ACT is hiring several thousand foot soldiers in 17 swing states, including Florida and Ohio. Guided by seasoned campaign officials and armed with handheld organizers loaded with voter lists of households likely to lean Democratic, the canvassers have started knocking on doors. They offer to register anyone who’s not already signed up. Without mentioning parties or even individual candidates, they also try to engage voters on key Democratic issues like jobs, health coverage, and education.
Canvassers then build a profile of each person willing to listen, entering their positions and other information onto the handhelds to construct a database. Over the next eight months, ACT and its sister 527s, most of which are pursuing the same approach, plan to contact each receptive voter 5 to 10 times.
ACT and the Media Fund, whose offices are two floors apart in a building across the street from AFL-CIO headquarters in Washington, will coordinate troops and ads to maximize their impact. Like the canvassers, Ickes’ air war — which was set to begin a 15-state, $5.2 million ad campaign on Mar. 10 — will attempt to steer clear of McCain-Feingold by avoiding open partisanship. But like so many of the issue ads that have become commonplace on both sides these days, the Media Fund’s views will be clear, Ickes says. ACT canvassers can even play ad snippets on their handhelds during their home visits…”
But, the names in that article? Haven’t we seen some of them before? And were they giving all three candidates a fair shot? Or? Did they do something far worse? Did they handpick a candidate that they wanted? When you look at the site referenced above “discoverthenetworks.org” you get this http://www.makeamericaworkforus.com/ for “The Media Fund.” I’m NOT SEEING HILLARY CLINTON”S NAME!
How interesting.
These people seem to have an agenda, don’t they? It seems they do. Take a look at this!
Which led to this!
But is it? I’m not even seeing Hillary Clinton’s name on this! What a bunch of crap, no?
So, who are these people? Who are the people who are controlling the Democratic Party behind the scenes?
And, what do the big bloggers have to do with it? How come I keep seeing their names linked to all these things? With that Soros guy. We read about him before in New York Magazine, but?
We live in a Democracy don’t we?
The Clinton Campaign needs to get to the bottom of all of this, right away. The more I look, the more dishonest the Soros/Obama connection seems. Obama? If he were a democrat wouldn’t he be for the party?
But he’s not. He’s for himself. Isn’t he? And it looks like the whole thing has been seriously rigged for a long time, against Hillary and John Edwards.
The FEC needs to be at the helm. NOW.
