You know, I’ve been thinking Al Gore to the rescue for quite some time, because of the bigger issues the world is facing due to global warming.

Also, shouldn’t Church and State be separate?

Some Americans might think so, others not.  There was a time when religious views were a private matter for people.

Given this contemporary scholarship though, I think Al Gore is just the man to unpack it for everyone.  And, like so many others in America, we are really looking for some leadership right now.  I don’t want Hillary Clinton to drop out and I’m sick of the press trying to force that by their headlines.

After the big rift last week about the Wright sermons, after the code of ethics that Obama’s church follows — isn’t further scholarship in order?  Yes.

First a good read from US News & World Report On “Obama’s Double Standard on Reverend Wright”

Last night there was a great documentary on PBS with Bill Moyers discussing Race Poverty and the Inner City 40 years later.

One of the things that really saddened me was the effect of the Reagan years on all the progress made post the riot years of the late ’60s.  (read Kerner Commission’s findings)

Could it be that all those social programs have died?  Or not?

If they have?

Do we then get scholarship that looks like this?

Is this the theory behind Jeremiah Wright’s sermons?

This is an op-ed from 1992 that ran in the NYT called “Black Demagogues and Pseudo- Scholars”

It should be required reading for anyone trying to make sense of Wright’s sermons.  The fact that it was written in 1992 — 16 years ago — might lead us to some interesting conclusions about contemporary scholarship on racism vis-à-vis this whole Trinity racism/religious dilemma.

Frankly though, Al Gore is damn good with ice.

This “Ice Peoples” theory in article?  Interesting, no…

The whole matter bears DEEP scholarship, by scholars having a big fat talk.

Soon.

Seems to me that Al Gore, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards all remember 1968.

Hmmm, come to think of it?  Maybe Maureen Dowd has something to say about this after bashing Hillary Clinton as she has.  Or maybe those ladies of “The View” could tackle it, since America appears to get its news that way.  Wouldn’t that be fab?

It seems odd that Obama would just drop his pastor Jeremiah Wright after 20 odd years because of the controversy around his preaching. It’s not as if this is going to placate the American public after what they saw in the videos. So why would he do this?

Better to stand by your religious conviction and old friends/mentors isn’t it?

This headline is very troubling, because it makes a person wonder what else or who else he’ll turn on. This doesn’t inspire any confidence at all.

One thing that the Obamas have really stirred up in this country is racism.

Racism is something the country has been working towards eliminating since Mr. Luther King, and so for Americans to see inside a Black Church like this was an eye opener. Better to get the dialogue out in the open, rather than clamp a lid on it.

Racism seems to be the biggest issue for Michelle Obama, as well. The blogs are discussing a video of her calling Americans “ignorant.”

How can Americans be ignorant around this issue? They aren’t. It seems it is Michelle Obama’s personal “issue” since her thesis.  Also her “y’all this and y’all that” sound totally ridiculous.  Who is she playing to?

How is that kind of speech going to go over around the world?

It’s almost as if the Obamas come from another planet.  Hardly anyone can understand where they are coming from, and they seem to “use” whatever they need in the moment which is very, very troubling to watch.

Consistency is what we need right now in a President, the most.  Not this.

That Obama’s pastor is not going to travel to Texas because of “security concerns”?

We live in the most diverse racially mixed country in the world, and it has been pretty peaceful until now.

Have Civil Rights changed here?  Not in my state.  Not yet anyway.

Are we breeding ethnic nationalism because of economic despair?  That’s nothing but trouble, and America cannot let that happen further.  We are the world’s model, aren’t we?

It just seems that we do not have time for the Obamas right now.  How are they going to represent us as a whole across the whole world diplomatically?  How can they possibly?

Here’s another take out of Seattle — “The Obama version of we shall overcome”

I quote from the piece:

“…The greatness of our country is that those of us who are not afraid of each other now outnumber those who are…”

Isn’t that the truth.  That is what Martin Luther King worked for.

We can’t afford the wreckage they seem to be leaving in their wakes, can we?

They don’t even seem like Democrats.

One thing about the Clinton years, we didn’t have these problems at all.

The right ticket looks like Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and John Edwards.

Why?

For one, diplomacy!

Second— they each have their specialties, don’t they?  It’s going to “take a village” made out of those three to get us out of this huge mess in a time when the economy is collapsing, the icecaps are melting and we need CONSISTENCY out of the leadership.  We need FDR-style Democrats.  These three can do it.  Don’t let the country devolve further in these times.  We have enough problems as it is.

OBAMA=TOXIC for honest Democrats.

OBAMA=TOXIC for honest Democrats.  Research the truth about Rezko and his funding sources.

It’s your call.

I believe in real Democrats like Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Al Gore.
