Since when has election time become whoever has the most money wins, because they can buy the most advertising?

This is a must read from The Guardian

A true Democrat would put their money towards good causes.  In the past our Presidents were beloved because of their deeds.  I have to ask just where is all this money coming from, and why?

Like I said earlier, it is wasteful and disgusting to amass this much cash when the country is in need of so much.  Only John Edwards spoke about what is really going on in the country.  He should be Vice President if he cannot be President.   He’s a man with a heart and a soul that shines.  I read a piece on him in the LA Times yesterday.  He is the sort of leader we need.  Not somebody who buys his way to the top.  It is so grotesque, it’s unreal.  Since when did we start “branding” our politicians?

They should be real, get out and circulate among the people.  What will you do to help the poor?  My sense is nothing at all.  Not if you throw a billion dollars away to get your mug plastered at the Super Bowl.  Christ.

It’s enough to make a person vomit, reading this Guardian Article.  Where are the values of JFK, LBJ, FDR right now?

I’m seeing those from Mrs. Clinton, only.

Ugh.  You know what disgusted me about Obama?  His dinner party in my town with Oprah.  It was a big buck affair.

It’s just so all about the reigning monarchy of the brand isn’t it?  Do something for your country instead of for yourselves.  Donate some of that money to help with the Katrina wreckage.  Like I said, that is what would get my vote.  And your generosity would get you enough free TV coverage you’d never have to pay for another advertising spot again.

You’d be loved because of your deeds.

John Edwards, please find a way to stay in this nightmarish campaign.  I love you for your JKF values, and you represent my party to the fullest.  You are an example of a shining American.  His final speech is here, and it is the speech of a very fine man.

My tongue, and ouch!

January 30, 2008

I have been totally stressed out since all my relatives have passed away.  It’s like, what is my identity now?  Anyway, I got this little bump on my tongue from grinding it against my bottom teeth because of stress, and let me tell you, I just had it taken off.

Oh f*ck.  It hurts like a #%$$&^*%*&^(*)(*_)*)^&&%^#$@&^*_()_+_+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am totally a little baby on the rare occasion I see a doctor.  So, he reassured me that this was okay.

But, do not ever grind your tongue like I did, because you won’t want to experience having something like that taken off you.

You know people who got pierced tongues?  Oh my god.  How did they bear it.

OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I’m reminded  of a Paul Bowles short story, but, let’s not go into it here.

Okay, off all that political stuff I was so on about.  I’m going to do a tiny poem and work on my screenplay.

Five more pages is my goal.  For class tomorrow night.

This is what you call existential pain.  So far so good on all the other big check up things.  Yikes.

It’s hard not to realize the grave responsibilities our next President is going to face.  This is not some easy thing to inherit, and it will be hard for whichever Democrat comes in next.  Watching our President, I thought about all the things he’s had to do while he has been in office and why.  He’s had to have strength, and stand alone.

Hillary Clinton knows the ropes.  She knows what she is going to face.  Imagine her strength.  Imagine a woman having that for the very first time.  Do you think it will be easy solving or resolving the war?  Poverty?  Economics?  Healthcare?  No, it won’t.

But do you know what I trust?  A woman, surrounded by other women, and men, is going to be able to tackle all this.

Maya Angelou supports her.  And so do I.  We need someone skillful right now.  Somebody with allies in Government that transcend and improve upon 60’s idealism ala Kennedy.  But somebody that understands and worked for what Kennedy was doing and believed in.  She alone has this record and history.

She will be phenomenal, like this poem of Maya’s.  I reprinted it from www.feminist.com

We simply don’t have time to argue anymore.  We need change, we need green policies.  She can do that.  Believe it.

It’s not really even about the glass ceiling, but, it is.  A woman will be the CHANGE.  A woman as strong as Hillary Clinton has had to be, and is.

PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I’m not cute or built to suit a model’s fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I’m telling lies.
I say
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips
The stride of my steps
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
And to a man
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees
Then they swarm around me
A hive of honey bees.
I say
It’s the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say
It’s in the arch of my back
The sun of my smile
The ride of my breasts
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say
It’s in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care.
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That’s me.
